3 Graces Jesus Gave Part 1

John 14:27; 15:9-10; 15:11

In the Gospel of John, from chapters 13-17, Jesus is dealing directly with the apostles. Judas leaves in John 13:30, so from John 13:31 through chapter 17, Jesus is dealing with His most faithful students. When reading the Gospel of John, those chapters should be read in a single sitting. One of the reasons He spends extended time with them before His departure, is to prepare them for His glorification (John 16:5-11). Jesus imparted 3 graces that we can learn much from. “Peace, I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful” (John 14:27). The peace that comes through Christ and His Gospel, is in direct contradiction to the “peace” that people have in the world. “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage: I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). While we maybe tempted by the world, we need to be reassured that the world is passing away (1 John 2:15-17). True peace only comes from the blessings of being in Christ (Eph. 1:3). We will have tribulation in the world, if we seek to live godly (2 Tim. 3:12). Fortunately, we can also have a peace that the world can not comprehend (Phil. 4:4-7). The peace of Christ is sufficient for the saints. I love you all!
