3 Graces Jesus Gave Part 3

John 14:27; 15:9-10; 15:11

“These things I have spoken to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full” (John 15:11). We’ve been talking about the graces that Jesus left His disciples; peace, love, and joy. The three graces that Jesus gave his disciples is also the first three fruits of the spirit (Gal. 5:22). Christianity is a joyful religion. We have to change the way we talk about the church family. How many times have you heard a conversation like, “Hey, what are you doing this weekend.” “Well, the wife and I are going to head to the mall and do some shopping Saturday, and then Sunday I have to go to church.” Actually, you don’t. You don’t have to go to church. You get to go to worship. Going and worshipping the Almighty Creator of the universe is a joyful occasion (Acts 20:7; Rom. 15:9-12). “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Rom. 15:13). We are to be filled with joy from Father God and the Son with the power of the Holy Spirit. Obedience to Christ is not a burden that is unbearable. If we live in the world, we will be a slave to our sins (Rom. 6:16-18). But Jesus promises to help us carry our heavy burdens. “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest… You will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matt. 11:28-30). Joy is found in obeying Jesus and His word and that is how we show our Love for Him (John 14:15; 15:14). Allow Jesus’ joy to fill you, and be obedient to His word. I love you all!

In His service,
Steven Hugley
