“A Kingdom has a King!”
Mark 9:1

Jesus made it clear that the Kingdom of God was not some distant future event, but something that would come in the lifetime of His disciples. In Mark 9:1, He said, “Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.” This statement leaves no room for speculation—some of those listening to Him would see the Kingdom come.
The Kingdom is not an earthly one, as Jesus told Pilate, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm” (John 18:36). The Kingdom was not meant to be a political entity but a spiritual reign, one that Jesus established when He ascended and took His throne.
Paul confirms that the Kingdom was already present in the first century, writing to the Colossians, “For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” (Col. 1:13-14). If Christians in the first century had already been transferred into the Kingdom, then it must have already been established.
John, writing in Revelation, further emphasizes this truth: “And He made us into a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen” (Rev. 1:6). The church is the Kingdom, and its citizens are those redeemed by Christ.
Brethren, do not be deceived by those who claim the Kingdom is yet to come. It came with power in the first century, just as Jesus promised. If you are in Christ, you are in His Kingdom. Let us live as faithful subjects, honoring our King with our obedience and devotion.
I love you all!
In His Service,
Steven Hugley
