Be Spiritual Israel

“Be Spiritual Israel”
Gal. 3:26-29

In Galatians 3 Paul gives a concise explanation of who the children of God are now, and that those who are the children of God now, those who have been clothed with Christ in baptism, are the spiritual descendants of Abraham (Gal. 3:26-29). While we are the spiritual offspring of God, let us be more diligent to not make the same spiritual and physical mistakes of ancient Israel. Namely, let us trust in the Lord and cleve to Him when we are afraid. In Numbers 13-14 the account of the 12 spies in the land of Canaan is chronicled. We know that Caleb and Joshua were the only two of the 12 spies to deliver a good report and urge the children of Israel to continue with the task the Lord gave them. But the people became afraid and shirked God’s commands. What I learn from the four leaders; Moses, Aaron, Joshua, and Caleb, is they did not cave to the demands of the mob, Israel. Rather they fell to their faces and begged Israel to trust in the Lord (Num. 14:5-9). Even when their lives were at risk, they never considered turning back from the Lord’s command to go in and take the land. Who are you going to be? The Israelite who fears obeying the voice of God, or the leader the tells people the truth even when it’s hard. I love you all!
