“Being the Household of God”
1 Tim. 3:15

The church is not just a gathering of believers; it is a family—the household of God (1 Timothy 3:15). When we obey the gospel, we become part of a brotherhood, bound not by flesh, but by the blood of Christ. Jesus Himself is our elder brother (Hebrews 2:11; Romans 8:29), and through Him, we are united as sons and daughters of God. This means the church should reflect the closeness, love, and commitment of a true family, where brotherly love defines our relationships (1 Peter 2:17; Romans 12:10).
A strong family takes care of its own, and the church should do the same. Scripture commands us to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2) and encourage one another in faith (Hebrews 10:24-25). Just as in any household, there will be struggles and disagreements, but true family sticks together. The world should look at the church and see a people devoted not only to God but to each other, standing firm in unity and love.
Being in God’s household means active participation, not passive attendance. A family thrives when every member contributes, and the church is no different. Our faith is not meant to be lived in isolation, but in deep fellowship with our brethren. If we truly love the brotherhood, we will invest in it, strengthen it, and cherish it. The church is not a place—it is a family. If you are in Christ, you are home. Now, let’s live like it.
I love you all!
In His Service,
Steven Hugley
