“Blessed in What You Do”
James 1:25

Being a Christian is the greatest blessing in a persons life. James tells us, “But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does” (James 1:25). You will be blessed for being a Christian. You will be blessed for being a doer of the word. However, we often think that blessing comes in some earthly form. Do not forget, you are not a citizen of this earth. “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Phil. 3:20). Paul flatly tells Timothy, “Indeed all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted” (2 Tim. 3:12). How is persecution a blessing? It would seem contradictory. We are never promised the treasures of this Earth. We are promised only food, clothing, and shelter (Matt. 6:25-32). As a matter of fact, we are commanded to store up treasures in heaven (Matt. 6:19-21). The oft quoted verse of prosperity preachers is Rom. 8:28: “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” The logical question should then be, “Who’s good?” To God’s good and the furthering of His Kingdom. This being the case, we are still blessed in what we do. Christianity is worth it! “But whatever things were gained to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ” (Phil. 3:7). There is joy in purpose and fulfilling the mission set before us. I love you all!

In His service,
