But I Thought The Were Just Stories...

Matt. 19:4-5
Since 1859 many people have viewed the inspiration of the scriptures in a different way. In 1859, Charles Darwin published his marquee book “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life” and castigated doubt on the Origin of man as recorded in Genesis 1 & 2. This has become a real struggle for how Christian parents teach their children. They go to school and hear teachers say things like, “Scientific Method” or “Evidence.” They then go to bible class and hear their bible teachers say things like “Today we’re going to learn about the story of ___________.” What are you more likely to believe once you’ve grown up? A story or something based on the scientific method? I implore you, teach your children that the Old Testament is not full of just bible stories, but biblical accounts. God creating Adam from dirt and Eve from Adam’s rib happened (Gen. 2:7&21), God cleansing the earth of wickedness through a worldwide flood (Gen. 6), and God confusing the language all actually happened (Gen. 11). We have to decide whether we believe truly that all scripture is inspired or not (2 Tim. 3:16-17). Many want to try to believe both evolution and the Bible by saying the first 11 chapters of Genesis are figurative. Friends, if you do that you make Jesus a liar. In Matthew 19 Jesus recognized that God made man and woman in the beginning, not billions of years after some big bang. “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mothers and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’” (Matt. 19:4-5). Israel situated at the base of Mt. Sinai heard Moses say, “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; … For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy” (Exodus 20:8-11). Moses understood that the Lord God spoke everything into existence in six literal days; not, 6 weeks, months, years, 6,000 years, 6m years, or 6b years, but 6 literal days. To claim anything contrary would make Moses, and even worse Jesus the Christ a liar. For more references of these being literal events please see Matt. 23:35; 24:37-39; Luke 3:36-37; John 5:46-47; 1 Cor. 15:45; 1 Cor. 11:8; 12; and many more. I love you all!
