“Christianity; A Taught Religion”
Acts

We often say in the Lord’s church, “Christianity is a taught religion.” As a matter of truth and fact, this is seen over and over in the New Testament: “But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them” (Acts 2:14), ‘And he said, “Hear me, brethren and fathers! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham…”” (Acts 7:2), ‘Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.’ (Acts 8:30-31), ‘And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” And He said, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting, but get up and enter the city, and it will be told you what you must do.”’ (Acts 9:5-6), and many other examples. But why? What is special about all of these dialogues? I recently figured it out. It is the fact that they had “dialogue.” The word “dialogue” comes to us from Middle English; from the Old French dialoge, by route of Latin translated from the Greek dialogos. The reason dia-logos is important is because literally it means dia (two) and logos (words). If you remember John 1:1-3 it says that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Word is translated from logos. Referring to the logic behind the universe. Christianity is a taught religion, because when we sit and have dialogue over the Scriptures we are parting in the nature of God. He has given us a mind to think about Him and the meaning of His word. Don’t waste it. I love you all!
