Christians Must Do!

Matt. 7:15-23
Christianity is a doing religion! Some seem to think think that in Christianity, all they have to do is think or believe a certain way. Look at what James said is James 1:22, “But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.” (also see vs. 19-25). You may believe in God, while that is great, that simple belief only does not save you (James 2:19). But the example that should spark the most motivation into a Christian comes from the Sermon on the Mount. If you look at verses 21-23 of Matt. 7, you see that believers are the topic of discussion. Jesus said, “Nor everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.” Notice how they address Jesus, they call Him Lord. An unbelieving person simply wouldn’t do this. Furthermore, Jesus said a certain people will enter the kingdom of heaven, those who do the will. Christianity is a doing religion! Even though believers may be doing good things, it doesn’t matter if it is not the will of the Father. “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ If we do not make a transformation into the image of Jesus (Rom. 12:1-2) and do the will of God, it simply doesn’t matter (John 14:15 & 15:14). Jesus then said, “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’ This should be motivation to the believer, to make sure they are doing the will of Father God and be noble minded like the Bereans by studying the scriptures daily; to make sure what they are being told is the truth (Acts 17:10-11). I love you all!
