Connected Through Truth

John 17:17
We as individual Christians should recommit ourselves to the relentless pursuit of the Truth. I would like to lay out a few reasons why in this brief article. 1) Contrary to what the world may think or what pop theology may teach, truth is singular. Jesus told us that He was, “the Truth” and that the only way to the Father was “through Him.” He also teaches us that God’s word is the truth (John 14:6; John 17:17). 2) The Godhead is connected through truth. Jesus is truth, which is the Word of God (John 1:1-3; 14; 14:6). The Holy Spirit revealed all of the truth in the first century to the apostles (John 14:25-26; 16:13). The truth, which is the word of God, which was revealed incarnate as Jesus of Nazareth, and was taught to the apostles directly from the Holy Spirit, proceeds from the Father (John 16:12-15; John 5:37-47). God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are unequivocally connected through truth and it is that same truth that separates us from the world, and binds us to God. “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. As you sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth. I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me” (John 17:16-21). 3) We are connected to each other through Truth and when we disagree on truth, it is displeasing to God (1 Cor. 1:10-11). The truth is what binds us together as christians, and allows us to grow up in Christ (Eph. 4:15). If we spend more time in the truth individually and together, we will be more connected than ever thought possible. I love you all!
