“Course Correction”
2 Kings 22:8-13

How do God’s children course correct? We know there is a need to stay on the path set before us. We know according to 1 John 1:5-10, that we need to continue to walk in the light as Jesus is in the light. “Watch the path of your feet and all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right nor to the left; turn your foot from evil.” (Prov. 4:26-27). Joshua was commanded to be strong and courages and “do not turn from it to the right or to the left” (Josh. 1:7). But what do we do when we find ourselves swayed? How does one correct? In 2 Kings 22 the record records a fascinating situation where Hilkiah the high priest finds the book of the law. He gave it to Shaphan the scribe who delivered the book of the law to the King, King Josiah. When Josiah reads the words of the book, he realizes that all of Judah had strayed from the truths found in God’s word and his response is one of mourning, repentance, and prayer. “When the king heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes. Then the king commanded… “Go, inquire of the Lord for me and the people and all Judah concerning the words of this book that has been found” (2 Kings 22:11-13). When a child of God strays, this is the response. Mourn, repent, and pray. I love you all!
