Col. 3:23
Do you ever get tired? Do you feel like you are in a rut? I know I sound like a bad television commercial, but those are legitimate questions. What about spiritually? Do you feel like you’re just going to church and you aren’t being the church the way we are supposed to be (1 Tim. 3:15). I have something to confess to you family. We all feel that way at times. Yes, even the preacher included. There are times where I feel like, “Ok, I gotta write this article now…” Here is where I differ from the TV ad, or the commercial selling you the latest and greatest pill that will probably do nothing. The only answer I have for you is scripture. Col. 3:23-24 gives us great advice, “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.” It makes it even more powerful when you realize that in Paul was writing to Christians who were slaves (Col. 3:22). In our daily work, we are to be enthusiastic, because we know we are working for the Lord! Ecc. 9:10-18 is a great section of scripture, but a small portion says, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might;” We do this by renewing our mindset. Pray to God, and ask for His help (Col. 5:17-18). The only way to do this, is to make up your mind to do it! Life is about choices. Even our Christian life. Paul tells the church in Rome, in Rom. 12:2 that they have to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” We have to be “fervent in spirit” serving the Lord (Rom. 12:11). We have to remember that if we are doing our work for God, it CAN NOT be in vain (1 Cor. 15:58). When you feel down, remember you are working for a higher purpose! I love you all!

In His service,
Steven Hugley
