Evidence of Divine Inspiration

2 Tim. 3:16

It seems like I increasingly come across individuals who espouse the premise, “I believe in God, but I don’t believe the Bible is literally His word,”  “I don’t believe that we have to follow everything in the Bible,” or “It’s a good book, but it’s not supposed to be taken literally.” There is a mountain evidence within the text that proves that is not the case. I have written about the Old Testament the past two weeks, and this too is an area that helps us see the divine inspiration of the Scriptures. The first five books of the Bible are recorded by Moses. Take a look at Leviticus 11 and you will see a great amount of Godly inspiration, in just a single chapter. We now know that the instruction on which meat was allowable is directly related to the level of toxicity in an animal, this magnified when one considers the primitive cooking methods of the ancient world (Macht, Bulletin of the History of Medicine, 1953). We mostly relate these meat laws to not eating pork, which we can’t understand now. But any hunter worth their salt can tell you that if you eat undercooked wild pig you could develop a very painful trichinosis infection, therefore God condemned it. Next, look at only eating aquarian animals that have scales and fins. This would eliminate possibly toxic animals like the blowfish, which produces tetrodotoxin which is 1250 time more deadly than cyanide, and shellfish, which in raw oysters contain the bacteria Vibrio vulnificus that can be deadly to people with pre-existing conditions if it is harvested in the wrong season or not cooked properly. There is instruction to stay away from Reptiles found in Leviticus 11. In the CDC’s 2007 report, Lianne McLeon estimated that over 70,000 cases of human Salmonella infection a year are related to reptiles and amphibians. This does not even scratch the surface of the medical benefits found within the laws God required of the Hebrew nation in the Old Covenant. How would Moses have known all of this? Surely a rational person can not conclude the he just conveniently got lucky when recording the food laws. The clear answer is that Moses was inspired of God to record the regulations. God literally expected Israel to keep these commands as well. It truly is the Word of God. I love you all!
