Face to Face

2 John 12
    
    We live in an increasingly digital world. It seems slightly ironic that I should write this via digital media, but I would like to encourage you to do less of that. John said, “Though I have many things to write to you, I do not want to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, so that your joy may be made full” (2 John 12). The truth is, when speaking about difficult topics, it is almost always better to do it in a personal setting. I see people arguing on social media all the time, and I am not perfect on this indictment. What I’ve learned the older I’ve gotten, is that when you speak about difficult topics face to face, you’re able to convey love and sincerity in a way that type, paper and ink, or a phone call just can’t. I believe Paul understood this as well. “My children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you — but I could wish to be present with you now and to change my tone, for I am perplexed about you” (Gal. 4:19-20). You’re probably not going to win anyone’s soul over Facebook or Youtube. Rather, use those connections that you make digitally to turn into one on one bible studies. I love you all!
