“Faith Defined”
Heb. 11:1

I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts lately about “faith” trying to get a multi varied point of view. What amazes me are the people who claim that faith is “just believing in Jesus” and quote Heb. 11:1. Please, read all of Heb. 11. “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval” (Heb. 11:1-2). Directly after this, the Hebrew writer gives examples of the faith he just defined. Please notice a trend here: “By faith Abel offered…” (Heb. 11:4), “By faith Enoch was taken…” (Heb. 11:5), “By faith Noah… prepared…” (Heb. 11:7), “By faith Abraham… obeyed…” (Heb. 11:8), By faith Abraham … offered…” “By Faith Issac blessed…” (Heb. 11:20), “By faith Jacob… blessed… and worshipped…” (Heb. 11:21), and the list continues. If someone is teaching a faith that does not do, they are not teaching a biblical faith. We are not saved by works of man, but we still must obey God (John 14:15) and His works (John 6:26-29). “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36). I love you all!
