Falling Away

1 Tim. 4:1-2
People struggle to change their minds. The concept of falling away has caused many trouble since about 1550AD. No matter what you believe on the topic, I’d like you to consider the following verses. This will not be much of an article. Simply a stating of scriptures. 1 Tim. 4:1-2 “But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron.” Heb. 3:12-13 “Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” Gal. 5:4 “you have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.” James 5:19-20 “My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.” Romans 8:12-13 “So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh — for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” 2 Peter 2:20-21 “For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them.” This is certainly not an exhaustive list of scriptures concerning the topic. Please exam the example of Judas Acts 1:17-19; 25, Ananias and Sapphira Acts 5:1-11, and Simon Acts 8:18-24. Also, consider the writings found in Matt. 13:20-22, Luke 12:45-47, John 8:31, Rom. 14:15, 1 Cor. 5:1-13, Heb. 6:4-8, and many more. Feel free to add to this list. I encourage you to read these scriptures to see what God has to say concerning this topic. I love you all!

In His service,
