For Such A Time as This

“For Such A Time as This”
Esther 4:14

Esther is a fascinating book! It is the only book in the Bible that does not have the name of God in the text, yet He can be seen everywhere throughout the book. Chronologically speaking Esther is one of, if not the last book in the timeline of the Old Testament. Succeeding Vashti, Esther becomes Queen Esther in Persia. A plot is formed against the Jews and Esther is hard pressed concerning what to do, because her king does not know she is a Jew. Mordecai warns her that speaking out could cause her death even though she is in the king’s palace and that deliverance will arise for the Jews in another way. He goes on to say, “And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?” Esther responds to Mordecai that the Jews need to fast and that, “Thus I will go in to the king, which is not according to the law; and if I perish, I perish” (Esther 4:14-17). Esther was convicted of the right thing to do, and even though the price she might have paid was her life, she was willing to pay that price anyway. You, Christian, may not be in a place of physical “royalty.” But when it comes to your workplace, your friends, and your family, you may have been put there through the providential workings of God “for such a time as this.” Do the right thing and speak God’s word and His Truths. I love you all!
