Go Touch Grass

“Go Touch Grass”
Psalm 46:10

Slang is fun. Every generation has its own phrases that help identify it. As a millennial, we didn’t say things were “cool”—we said, “that’s tight.” A few years ago, I heard kids say, “Go touch grass.” It’s a call to reality—if you’re out of touch, disconnected, or lost in your own little world, you need to “go touch grass.” Oddly enough, it’s great advice!

We’ve become so disconnected from God’s creation—tied to our couches, binge-worthy shows, and calendars packed from sunrise to sunset—that we forget to sit in the still. God commanded the ancient Hebrews to take a day off every week (Exodus 20:8–11). Why? Because even in rest, we remember God.

Psalm 46:10 (NIV) says, “Be still and know that I am God.”
Stillness helps us see God. He is in His creation. Sometimes, we need to stop the noise, step away, and go outside to see Him in what He’s made.
“The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words;
Their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their utterances to the end of the world.”
—Psalm 19:1–4 (NASB)

If you're feeling overwhelmed, if the constant buzz of life is wearing you down—go touch grass. Go be still. Go see God.
I love you all!

In His service,
