How Do I Rob God?

“How Do I Rob God?”
Mal. 3:8-9

“Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In Tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you! “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of Hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” (Mal. 3:8-10). Yes, we can rob God. In this context, the prophet Malachi is rebuking Israel for withholding their tithes and offerings (or sacrifices). It is true we are no longer under the Old Covenant and therefore not required to give a tithe (Rom. 7:1-7; Heb. 9:15-17). However, we still rob God, and His people, of many things. When we habitually forsake the assembling of His church, we are robbing God of growth and His people of encouragement (Heb. 10:25-26). When we just go through the motions of worship and don’t sing with the Spirit or understanding, we are robbing God of the worship He requires and the admonition and teaching the saints need (1 Cor. 14:15; Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16). When we don’t give cheerfully, we are robbing God of the blessings He can give to others through His church (2 Cor. 8 & 9, Acts 4:32-37). Be careful, family. We do not want to rob God. I love you all!
