Is Your Heart Divided?

“Is Your Heart Divided?”
Psalm 119:10-11

When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, he didn’t provide one of the ten commandments (Matt. 22:34-40). Rather he provided a section of the “Shama” and implicitly was providing the entire premise behind the Shama. “You shall love the Lord you God with all your heart…” (Deut. 6:5). If we do not love God with all of our heart, we have a divided heart. “With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments. Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You” (Psalm 119:10-11). According to Psalm 119, when we sin, it is because we have a divided heart. We serve someone or something other than God. If we are honest with ourselves, when we sin we are serving ourselves. Jesus too says we can not serve two masters, “for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other” (Matt. 6:24). A divided heart can result in divided time leading one to worship God less, a divided marriage, a divided personal life, etc. It will lead to a multitude of problems. If you love God with all your heart, you will be so busy teaching God’s word, talking of Him in your house, while you work, when you lie down,   and when you rise up, that you won’t have time or energy to have a divided heart. I love you all!
