Know Your Purpose

“Know Your Purpose”
Luke 4:43

I did a sermon a few weeks ago talking about “the mission of Christ.” I talked about several of my favorite scriptures that point out why Jesus came to Earth.  Unfortunately I left out Luke 4:43, and it has been haunting me. “But He said to them, ‘I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose.’” We need to know our purpose. We are on this Earth to do morethan just one thing. Don’t pigeonhole yourself. Jesus understood that He had many responsibilities while He was on His earthly mission. You too are here to do multiple good things for the Lord and His kingdom. The start is to be a good spouse, a good child, raise a Christian family, and be a good example at your workplace. But also, don’t forget the mission Peter sets for Christians. “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9). We live in a time and era where everyone treats every profession as a religious calling. “I was called to be a teacher… coach… nurse… doctor…” or whatever it is they’re claiming. It has gotten to a point where many treat the desired jobs like they have more religious pretext than their actual religious calling, which is to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10; 1 Peter 2:9; Matt. 28:18-20). Strive to serve the Lord to your fullest, and never be satisfied with the bare minimum. I love you all!
