Knowledge and Wisdom

“Knowledge and Wisdom”
James 1:5

When talking about knowledge and wisdom, many people present the two ideas as if they are contrary to one another. A phrase I use regularly is “Knowledge is knowing what to say and wisdom is knowing how to say it.” They are not at odds with one another. If I had wisdom without knowledge, what I say would be worthless. If I had knowledge without wisdom, what I say would not be received. The truth of the matter is that we need both. “How blessed is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding” (Proverbs 3:13). The writer then goes on to say that there are better gains of profit that are more desirable than jewels and that gaining knowledge and wisdom can lead to a long life (Prov. 3:13-19). The proverbial writer adds “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth, by understanding He established the heavens” (Prov. 3:19). The Lord used both wisdom and knowledge in His creation. We should seek to know God’s word and to understand how to best use it in our daily lives and in the lives of others. I love you all!
