Letting Them Alone

“Letting Them Alone”
Rom. 12:18

I’ll be honest—I’ve been struggling with forgetting those who have lied about me in the past. They haven’t apologized, haven’t admitted they were wrong, and probably never will. But I know what I’m supposed to do. Romans 12:18 says, “If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.” That doesn’t mean I have to pretend nothing happened, but it does mean I don’t have to engage. As much as I want to set the record straight, I let them alone.
I also remember Galatians 6:7—“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.” If someone is sowing lies and refuses to repent, they will reap corruption. It’s not my job to make sure justice is done; that belongs to God (Romans 12:19). My job is to guard my own heart (Proverbs 4:23), speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), and trust that God will handle the rest.
So, I let them go. Not because they deserve it, but because I refuse to carry the weight of their sin. I choose peace over bitterness, trust over vengeance, and truth over resentment. And when the temptation to dwell on it comes creeping back, I remind myself of Isaiah 26:3—"You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
I love you all!
