Loving Correction

“Loving Correction”
Gal. 6:1-2

“Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ” (Gal. 6:1-2). The world really misunderstands biblical correction. Today’s society is one that says “If you don’t agree with… or celebrate my life style… then you hate me…” This is not true. The christian can disagree with someone’s lifestyle, correct their erroneous ways, and still love them. Not only do you see the command given by Paul here to “restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness,” there is an example within the same book. “But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned” (Gal. 2:11). Paul not only “talked to the talked” but he “walked the walk.” Peter was caught in hypocrisy because he refused to eat with Christians of a Gentile background. Not only that, but his bad example “carried away” Baranabas as well. However, Paul lovingly corrected him. In Gal. 2:14-21 Paul gives a defense for how the Christian of Jewish background has “died to the Law” and how if righteousness could be had through the Law, then Christ death was in vain. This loving rebuke is an example for the Christian to help bring erring brethren back to the Lord. I love you all!
