Loving God Through Obedience

“Loving God Through Obedience”
Deut. 30:15-16

In Deuteronomy 10:12-13, Moses asks, “Now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require from you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the Lord’s commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good?” God’s love and His commandments are not separate ideas; they are intertwined. To love God is to obey Him.
Jesus affirmed this in John 14:15 when He said, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” Love is not just an emotion; it is an action. Many in the religious world today claim to love God while ignoring His commands, but Jesus made it clear that true love for Him is shown through obedience.
Obedience is not about earning salvation—it is about devotion, gratitude, and trust. Just as Israel was called to walk in His ways, we, too, must strive to keep His word in our lives. God’s commands are “for our good” (Deut. 10:13), guiding us in righteousness and keeping us from harm.
Let us examine our hearts and lives. Are we showing our love for God through obedience, or are we merely saying we love Him while living for ourselves? May we be people who demonstrate our love for the Lord by faithfully keeping His word. I love you all!
