Make Up Your Mind

“Make Up Your Mind”
Luke 21:14

When I read first-century sermons recorded in the Bible, I often think, “I wish I had the ability to have God’s word memorized miraculously.” To memorize the Bible I have to put in hours of study and flash cards in order to memorize sections of scripture. However, knowledge is just a part of the equation. We forget that desire is a requirement. We have to want to do God’s will, and so did the first-century evangelists. When preparing the apostles for ministry after His departure Jesus said, “It will lead to an opportunity for your testimony. So make up your mind not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves; for I will give you utterance and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute you” (Luke 21:13-15). He told the apostles they had to make up their minds to do it God’s way. We too have to “make up our minds” to do God’s will and His work. Even though they had miraculous knowledge, they had to desire to do God’s will His way. We might not have miraculous knowledge, but if we make up our minds to do God’s will God’s way, we will not be wrong. I love you all!
