Man's Free Will

10/4/2017

Man is a free moral agent. This means that we, as humans, have been given the ability to choose what we want to do with our lives. We see this evident in the garden when Adam and Eve decided to disobey God’s command. Disobedience has always been meet with punishment. Adam and Eve were put out of the garden, Gen 3:24, the world was flooded in the days that Noah built the ark, Gen. 6:9-13, Nadab and Abihu offered unauthorized fire before the Lord and died, Lev. 10:1-2, Ananias and Sapphira lied before the Holy Spirit, Acts 5:1-16, those who confessed Jesus as “Lord” didn’t do the will of the Father and were cast out from the presence of the Lord, Matt. 7:21-23, and many more examples. But still in yet, God sent his Son to die for the unrighteous, ungrateful human race, Rom. 5:3-11 & John 3:16. He has given us the opportunity to obey him and receive salvation, Heb. 5:9. Contrary to the teaching of Calvinistic doctrine, this opportunity has been offered to all, Acts 10:34-35, Rom. 2:11, Gal. 3:26-28, Eph.6:9. Peter said in Acts 10:35 “but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him.” This past week there was another vicious and evil attack. We should pray for the victims but we should also do, James 2:14-26. I know that because of man’s free will evil things will continue to happen, as they have happened since the beginning of mankind, Gen. 4:1-10. But what will I do? I will pray more devotedly than ever before, I will seek to do good for others and be sure no one repays evil for evil (1 Thess. 5:14-15). In the face of persecution I will take the example of my early brothers and sister and teach more beautifully than ever before (Rom. 10:15, Acts 8:1-4). There once was an evil man who was breathing threats and murder against the Way (Acts 9:1-2), and he later became a christian (Acts 9:17; 22:26). I will fight the good fight until my last dying breath, just like the former persecutor of the Lord’s Church did (1 Tim. 6:11-16). I know what I will do. I urge you all to be a doer of the word and not merely a hearer and delude yourself (James 1:22-23). I love you all!

In His service,
