New Testament Teaches Us About the Kingdom.

The Kingdom Part 4
Mark 9:1
In previous articles, we discussed how scripture shows that the kingdom is already here, and Jesus is reigning over it (John 18:36; Col. 1:13-14; Rev. 1:6; 5:10 & 13; Heb. 8:1-2), we also discussed how the kingdom is in fact the church (Matt. 16:18-19; Col. 1:13; Acts 2:47), and lastly we talked about the prophecy of the church and its fulfillment (Is. 2:1-4; Dan. 2:44; Joel 2:28-32; Acts 2:16ff). In this article we are going to look at more new testament teaches and the kingdom. In Mark 9:1 Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.” Jesus’ statement is clear, people he was speaking to, in the first century, were going to see the kingdom come with power. Acts 2:1-8 is a description of a very powerful event that happened in the first century, that certainly people that Jesus was speaking to in Mark 9 witnessed. This event, called the day of Pentecost, happened in Jerusalem (required for fulfilling Is. 2:1-4; Ps. 2:2-7; and Acts 1:8), and was the establishment of the new testament church (Acts 2:41;47), which is the kingdom (Matt. 16:18-19; Rev. 1:6-11). Because of some doctrines trying to reconcile Mark 9:1 with the doctrine of the rapture and the coming of the anti-christ, there have been many misunderstanding about this. One of the best ways to right this erroneous doctrine, is to look at what the scriptures teach about the “anti-christ.” The scriptures concerning the anti-christs can be found in 1 John 2:18-24; 4:1-3; & 2 John 7. What we can extrapolate from those scriptures is not what most people are taught about “the” anti-christ. 1) Anyone who denies Christ is an anti-christ. 2) There are many anti-christs. 3) We are not waiting for a singular anti-christ to come back and signal the apocalypse, because there have been anti-christs in the world since the first century and there continue to be anti-christs today. I hope this clears up some erroneous teachings about a coming of a future kingdom. I love you all!
