Sorry, I'm Not From Here

“Sorry, I’m Not From Here”
John 18:36

Have you ever been visiting a new place or on vacations and people stop and ask you for directions? It happens to me all the time! The only thing I know to say is, “I’m sorry, I’m not from here.” Or I’m in a store and someone will come up and ask me where to find a certain product. All I know to say is, “I’m sorry, I don’t work here.” Being a Christian while walking around and acting within the world often feels that way to me: strange, new, and disconnected. I see travesties, abominations, and glorification of sin and I feel lost trying to navigate the situation. I thought for a long time something was wrong with me, but the truth is, “This world is not my home, I’m just passing through.” Jesus, when responding to Pilate concerning His nation and His Kingship, said,  “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm” (John 18:36). If we are living faithfully, there is expected to be a certain amount of discomfort (2 Tim. 3:12). Our citizenship is not here, but we are looking for the new home (Phil. 3:20). When Paul was preaching in Thessalonica, a mob formed and accused him of “Turning the world upside down” (Acts 17:6; KJV). The truth of the matter was that sin turned the world upside down in the garden (Gen. 3) and righteousness is the only thing that can turn it right side up (Prov. 14:34). I love you all!
