Taught Wrong but Saved Right?

“Taught Wrong but Saved Right?”
Acts 19:1-7

In our society, it has almost become uncouth to ask someone about their conversion to christianity. However, that’s exactly what Paul does in Acts 19 when he encounters some “disciples” in Ephesus. He asked them if they received “the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They responded no. Paul immediately asks them, “Into what then were you baptized?” The inference being that belief and baptism accompany one another. When Paul found out that they obeyed the wrong baptism, he taught them the truth and the about twelve men “were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” They didn’t argue about who taught them that. They didn’t argue about whether it was necessary to be “re-baptized.” They simply obeyed the doctrine of Jesus Christ. The truth is, one can not be taught wrong but saved right. “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (John 8:31-32). Jesus said that the truth makes one free. So if an individual were taught error. If they were taught wrong, then that false doctrine can not save them. They can not be made free. I know there are people who had a great deal of sincerity when they believed a false teaching, however the measure of sincerity doesn’t save them. Only teaching the truth, which is the word of God (John 17:17), can save an individual. I love you all!
