The Children

“The Children”
Matt. 18:1-6

When Jesus was giving the disciples a lesson about what it takes to be “the greatest” in the Kingdom of Heaven, He used a child as an example. After telling them they must be “coverted and become like children” he went on to give them a dire warning, “but whoever causes one of thess little ones to believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea” (Matt. 18:6). Children are a blessing from the Lord (Psalm 127:3-5). They can teach an adult so much about depending on the Lord. We need the Lord for nourishment, guidance, safety, instruction, warnings, discipline, etc., just as a child needs their physical parent. Children hear and see more than we give them credit for. How are we hindering the children today? When we let them stay up too late Saturday night, knowing they won’t be able to focus on worship the next day. When we tell them, “The most important thing in your life is school, sports, dance, band, _________.” When we fail to make them prioritize God first. “All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord, nor yet the work which He had done for Israel” (Judges 2:10). Be careful of stumbling blocks. Whether it be activities, music, television, or whatever would cause the little ones to stumble. It is not worth your soul, and it is certainly not worth theirs. I love you all!
