“The Lord’s Understanding”
Proverbs 3:5-7

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him. And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil” (Prov. 3:5-7). If we could obey those three verses, life would be easier. The scriptures are full of admonishments about not trusting your own understanding, rather trust the Lord’s. “There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Prov. 14:12). “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men” (1 Cor. 1:25). Ask the “wisest” of modern atheists if it is possible for a man to rise from the dead after being dead 3 days. They would almost all give a resounding “No way!” However, we know that’s exactly what the Christ did (1 Cor. 1:18-25; 15:1-3). So how does a man today “acknowledge Him?” Or better yet, what keeps the “smartest” humans today, from believing in God? Pride. “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling” (Prov. 16:18). “Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you” (James 4:10). We must be humble to accept God’s wisdom. We must be humble to accept that Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah, lived a perfect life, died a torturous death for you and me, rose again to life, and ascended to the Father in heaven. Pride is what gets in the way of accepting that fact of life. If Jesus did those things, and He did, then it is only reasonable for Him to expect us to live a life devoted to Him (John 8:31-32; 14:12-15; Col. 3:4). I love you all!

In His service,
