The Priestly Tribe

“The Priestly Tribe”
Joshua 13:14
In a recent sermon, we looked at how the New Testament teaches the universal priesthood of all Christians (1 Peter 2:9). This week, reading Joshua 13, I was reminded of that truth when I came across verse 14:
“Only to the tribe of Levi he gave no inheritance; the offerings by fire to the Lord… are their inheritance.”
The Levites didn’t receive land like the other tribes. Their inheritance was God Himself. That same principle applies to Christians today. Revelation 1:6 says Christ has made us a kingdom and priests—not limited by geography or buildings, but tied to spiritual service.
The church is not a place; it’s a people. And every Christian is a priest, called to offer spiritual sacrifices (Romans 12:1), to praise (Hebrews 13:15), and to serve. Like the Levites, our portion isn’t land or wealth—it’s the Lord (Psalm 16:5).
We don’t wait for a priest to draw near to God for us--we boldly approach the throne (Hebrews 4:16), because we are priests too. And that priesthood means we live set apart—not for this world, but for the kingdom of heaven (Philippians 3:20).
Let’s live like people whose inheritance is the Lord Himself.
I love you all!
