To Whom Are You Listening?

“To Whom Are You Listening?”
Hebrews 6:17-18

In Hebrews 6:18, the Hebrew writer makes it plan that “it is impossible for God to lie.” Most religious people accept this fact as revealed in Scripture. If this is true, and it is, then we must also understand that God’s word cannot contradict itself, or popular doctrine. “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3:16-17). We must adhere to God’s word. When our own preconceived notions or the words of our favorite preacher contradict God’s word, we must stand with God’s word. Furthermore, there are many who claim that they hear directly from God. What happens when these inspired words contradict the word of God? “We must obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29). Nearly 2,000 years ago, Paul told Timothy, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths” (2 Tim. 4:3-4). We are either naive or purposefully ignorant to think this isn’t happening today. All authority is in Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:18), and it is revealed in His word (John 1:1-3; 16:13). I love you all!
