True Fellowship

1 John 1:3-7
Fellowship is a term that is often thrown around. Whether it be in the worship setting, company picnic, or a ballgame. But what is true fellowship? I am convinced that because people have been raised in the “bible belt” they take religious words and put them in other settings. Fellowship is a great example of this. When studying the scriptures it is evident that fellowship is something that can only be attained through God and his Son Jesus Christ (1 John 1:3 & 7). We have fellowship with one other when we walk in the light. If we are not walking in the light, then we do not have fellowship with one another. Meaning it is impossible to have biblical fellowship with someone who is outside of Christ, either because they are a wayward believer or because they have never been baptized for the remission of their sins. Fellowship is something that we also share when we work with other christians to teach the Gospel (Gal. 2:9). Again, a relationship that is only shared in Christ. Paul said he shared in fellowship with the sufferings of Christ (Phil. 3:10) not because of the Law (of Moses), but because of Christ. This is a relationship that is unique to Christianity and communion with the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 13:14). We should never underestimate the power of true fellowship, and we should cherish the fellowship we have with each other through Christ. I love you all!
