“Use the Sword”
Heb. 4:12

God’s word is a sword (Heb. 4:12). It is a sword that can cut past any idea contrived by man. Unfortunately, Christian’s are afraid to wield the sword. I’m not saying Christian’s don’t study the Bible, or that they don’t use it to defend against those who would cause harm to the cause of Christ. I am saying they only use the sword defensively. A sword is both a defensive and an offensive weapon. “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household” (Matt. 10:34). When we understand that Jesus is the word (John 1:1-3) and that he always defended error with Scripture and stood for truth, this is only logical. “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete” (2 Cor. 10:3-6). We have to use God’s word to cut down fleshly teachings that are contrary to God’s word. The sword is a required part of the armor of God (Eph. 6:10-17) and we need to make sure we are using it to fight defensively and offensively. I love you all!
