What About the Blood Moon?

“What About the Blood Moon?”
Acts 2:20

Every few years there are “blood moons.” This is when there is a total lunar eclipse and the moon appears to turn to blood. Every few years when this happens, people want to turn to Acts 2:20. “The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come.” Everyone wants this to be a sign of the 2nd coming of Jesus. Please don’t forget, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone” (Matt. 24:36). How do I know that Acts 2:20 isn’t talking about the second coming of Christ? Read just a few verses prior. Peter tells the crowd at the day of Pentecost that the Scripture he is referencing is indeed its own fulfillment of Joel 2:28-32. “For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day; but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel” (Acts 2:15-16). Peter is stating that they were fulfilling the prophecy THAT DAY! So the blood moon happening tonight is not a fulfillment of a prophecy. The prophecy has already been fulfilled.
