What are you Preaching?

Acts 8:4
One thing that I constantly point out is the fact that the New Testament church was grown through tribulation and through everyone taking a joint effort in spreading the Good News of Jesus. Acts 2-8 chronicles the beginning of the Lord’s Church for about the first 5 years of its existence in Jerusalem. Starting in Acts 8 through the end of the book is where the majority of conversion accounts are found and Paul’s missionary journeys. In Acts 7 Stephen, the first christian martyr, was stoned to death and the Jerusalem church was frightened and scattered. Presumably back to their hometowns from before the day of Pentecost in Acts 2. The scattering is what grew the first century church that was already thousands of people (Acts 2:41;47, Acts 4:4). We need to take personal looks at what was being preached in each of those conversion accounts and make sure we are preaching the same. It is possible to preach wrong. Are we preaching the truth about Jesus Christ? The good news of good things (Rom. 10:15). Or are we preaching a feel good doctrine of “Peace and safety!” (1 Thess. 5:3)? Even though the people we are talking to and teaching do not have the peace of God or safety from the wrath to come (Phil. 4:7 & 2 Thess. 1:6-9). I encourage you this week to take a look at the conversion accounts found in Acts and make sure we are teaching the same, and that we have obeyed the same! I love you all.
Conversion accounts: Acts 2:14-41; 8:9-13; 8:25-40; 9:1-18; 10:34-48; 16:14-15; 16:25-33; 19:1-7; 22:1-18; 26:9-20

In His service,
