What Impact Does Sin Have On You?

Gen. 3:21
There is a very simple truth that people don’t like to accept. Sin has a price. It has always had a price. Heb. 9:22b “without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” When we sin, does it have an impact on us? The first sin by mankind had a profound impact, although not immediate. In the same way, sin does have a profound impact on us today, even if it is not an immediate impact. In Gen. 3 we see Eve, then consequently Adam commit mankind’s first sin. Adam was told, “from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.” We see that Eve was deceived, and she did not immediately die. Adam, thereafter, ate and he too did not immediately die. But do not be deceived, there was death due to their sin. In Gen. 3:21 there is a scripture that is not often focused on. “The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.” Where did God get the skin? He had to kill something. There we had the first sin sacrifice, and Heb. 9:22 has been true ever since. What impact did that death have on Adam and Eve. For their entire lives up to that point they did not know death. They did not know what it was and arguably had a difficult time conceptualizing something they had never witness. I often imagine that seeing the first sin sacrifice had profound impact on them. Does our sin have profound impact on us? More importantly does our sin sacrifice, Jesus, have more impact on us? Rom. 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death;” this statement was true for the first people to ever walk the Earth, and it is true for us today. Our sin leads to death. It is not an immediate physical death, rather it is a spiritual death and separation from God (Isaiah 59:1-2). Rom. 6:23b is true for us, “but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. We must be in Christ (Gal. 3:27), for he is our sacrifice. Allow our sin sacrifice to have a significant impact on your behavior and your actions thereafter. I love you all!
