What We Miss When We Miss You

“What We Miss When We Miss You”
Heb. 10:25-26

We often talk about the biblical commands, examples, and inferences of the necessity to assemble together, but we often leave out the why. Why do we need you at bible classes and worship services? 1)We need your encouragement. When the Hebrew writer penned Heb. 10:25-26, the writer said we do not need to be in a habit of forsaking the assembling, but “encouraging one another.” We see that encouraging is a continual act and something we are needed for in our assemblies. That encouragement can be comforting words to a family member struggling, a much needed nugget of wisdom offered in a bible class, or just a smile after a week  of spiritual battle in the world. 2) We need your admonition. Our singing is not to be void of purpose or meaning. Our singing is to teach and admonish our brethren (Col. 3:16). If you aren’t at the assembling of the church, you can’t fulfill that role. You might think, “But someone else will be there.” What if everyone had that attitude? There would be no one to teach or warn. 3) We need you for our body to function properly. Imagine if your right leg just stopped working. Or left hand… or ear… or elbow… You would think something is drastically wrong! The body of Christ functions the same way. In 1 Cor. 12, the Apostle Paul makes it clear that each member serves as a part of the body. We need the entire body in order to function properly. If you are absent, we miss your vital role. I love you all!
