When I Tell You That You Are in Sin, I'm Saying I Love You!

“When I tell you that you are in sin, I’m saying I love you”
Eph. 4:15

One of the most heinous lies being perpetuated by people in the word today is, that if you don’t accept someone for “their truth,” then you do not love them. Indeed many would say that you hate them.  As a Christian, we don’t need to be concerned with anyone’s truth but God’s. He has revealed His absolute truth to us through His word (John 17:17), for all time (Jude 3). Paul admonished the church in Ephesus to speak the truth in love (Eph. 4:15). John admonishes us to “not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth” (1 John 3:18). Jesus told those who believed in Him in the first century an immutable truth that permeates through the ages, “you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (John 8:32). Jesus tells us that only the truth, which is the word of God, can make you free. God also declares to men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30-31). Repent means to have a change of heart that leads to a change of action (Acts 3:19). So, when I tell you that you are in sin, I’m saying I love you. I’m not saying I hate you; at all! I’m simply telling you, “You are separated from God in the current condition you are in (Is. 59:1-2), and I want you to go to heaven.” 1 Cor. 6:9 states plainly, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?” Stop glorifying sin. Stop justifying sin. Stop trying to change, what the Bible clearly says is sin. This is not hate. This is the best kind of love that someone can offer. Jesus said “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). That is a conditional statement. You must do what the Bible, Jesus’ commandment (John 1:1-3) tells you to do. Whether you like it or not. I love you all!
