“When Too Much of a Good Thing, is a Bad Thing”
2 Thess. 3:10-11

“For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order; if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either, for we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies'' (2 Thess. 3:10-11). “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the Faith and is worse than an unbeliever” (1 Tim. 5:8). It is evident the Lord expects Christians to work. The Lord expects us to provide for their families. Is it possible that too much work can become a bad thing? Absolutely! There are many good things that, when overdone, turn to be negative. I am writing about work, but don’t be solely focused on work. Make broader applications to your own lives. I often wonder about Hophni and Phinehas. They were the two sons of Eli. They were all priests (1 Sam. 1:3). Eli is remembered because he was the priest that spoke to Hannah who later gave birth to Samuel. Eli trained Samuel after he was consecrated for the Lord. While Eli trained Samuel well, his own sons fell by the wayside. “Now the sons of Eli were worthless men; they did not know the Lord and the custom of the priests with the people” (1 Sam. 2:12-13a). Is it possible that Eli was too focused on the service of the Lord that he neglected to raise his sons to do the same? Work is good. Work for the Lord is better! However, the Lord expects us to lead our households to Him. Think about the good things in your life, and make sure they don’t turn into bad things. I love you all!

In His service,
