You Are Not Perfect "Just the Way You Are"

Romans 12:1-2
One of the resounding philosophies that is being perpetrated today is the concept that you don’t need to change. You are perfect the way you are and you should not change at all. People use this in all aspects of life and have transferred it to religion. One might hear something like “God loves you no matter what!” “God love you just the way you are.” Underneath its own logic, this is not true. What if you’re a murderer? What about a thief? Or a liar? Or an adulterer? Or a homosexual? Or list any sin here. The truth is, christianity requires us to make a change. Paul told the Romans to “not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” If you are perfect just the way you are and God loves you just the way you are, why did God send His only Son to make sacrifice for you (John 3:16)? In Titus 2:11-12, Paul tells Titus that God sent us His Son “bringing salvation to all men,” and He has specific instruction for us “instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age.” We have to change. We have to change into the image of Jesus Christ because he is our example (Heb. 12:1-2). If we are fine just the way we are and no change needed at all, Peter would not have told the Jews in Acts 2:36 to “Repent.” The same admonition is seen in Acts 3:19 to “Repent and return”. Return to whom? To God! “There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12). God has given us His word, and that our source of truth (John 17:17). That is what is to guide our footsteps (Psalm 119:105). I love you all!
